Utthara poses with her summer labmates at Nara Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, in Japan. Summer of 2015.
Fall 2015. Our first group picture in the new laboratory, sporting our PPE! Pictured from L to R are: Ed, Abhi, Cansu, Jiaqi, and Utthara.
Summer 2015. Ed participated in the Engineering Summer Exploration Program for high school students this year. Students learned how to make a "bubble raft model" of a 2D crystal structure using soap bubbles on the surface of water. Defects observed in real crystals, such as vacancies and dislocations, are clearly visible in the raft model. Reference: Bragg, L. and Nye, J. F. (1947) Proc. R. Soc. Lond. A 190 (1023): 474–481
2016. Prof. Kazuma Yasuhara and students visiting RPI from Nara Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (NAIST), in Japan. Out for dinner at Dinosaur BBQ in Troy, NY.
Our newest lab member is obviously enjoying her first lesson about molecules!
